PRESS

Concrete Donkey is a rock band from North Texas.  As the word “rock” has many connotations, it may be best to compare the sound with their influences.  The band members often cite, and sometimes cover groups like Drive By Truckers, Tom Petty, Kiss, Mountain, The Raconteurs, Jet, Lenny Kravitz, and The Tragically Hip.  However, primarily Concrete Donkey writes and performs original music.  The band members consider CD to be a roots rock project with some progressive flare-ups.

The band consists of veterans of the DFW music scene.  James Dunning is the primary vocalist and plays guitar.  He is the former Lost Immigrants band-daddy and can often be seen in Denton, Dallas, and beyond playing solo shows and private parties.  Mike McShane is the bassist for the band and contributes lead and background vocals.  He is formerly of Darryl Lee Rush band and CC Cross band, among others, and can also be seen in various haunts in the DFW area performing single and duo shows.  Adrian Brooker is the drummer and contributing vocalist for Concrete Donkey and is formerly of CC Cross Band and Seven Story Drop.  Blake Brownlee provides lead guitar and supporting vocals for the band.  He is formerly of Molotov Dogs and Lost Immigrants and is a Denton native.

Concrete Donkey has been working with the legendary producer Eric Delegard to prepare a full length album for release, targeting early 2026.  To-date, the band has released preliminary tracks from this forthcoming record on the streaming services.  Songs like the grunge-inspired “Black-Hearted Woman” and the ear-burrowing “Ain’t That Enough” are particular favorites from the band’s followers.  Keep up with Concrete Donkey on Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube, or on the band’s website.
